Achievements and Activities

INESAP has succeeded in establishing a lively cooperation between scientists from more than 20 countries. This international cooperation is exemplified by its study on "Beyond the NPT - Towards a Nuclear-Weapons-Free World." This study was co-authored by a group of about 50 experts from 17 countries and published in New York during the 1995 Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review and Extension Conference. INESAP's innovative work has reached political decision makers. For example, it co-initiated the drafting of the model Nuclear Weapons Convention and contributed its scientific expertise to the drafting process. The model NWC became an official UN document in 1997 (A/C. 1/52/7) and is contained in the book "Security and Survival".

INESAP publishes the INESAP Information Bulletin, monographs, technical reports, conference proceedings, and briefing papers. INESAP has organized international meetings in Geneva, Göteborg, Mühlheim, New York, Shanghai, Stockholm, Berlin, and other places.

INESAP conducts international study groups. At the moment, the main project is "Moving Beyond Missile Defense".

INESAP maintains an email discussion list.
