South Asians Against Nukes (SAAN)
South Asians Against Nukes is an independent cross border platform and sounding board for activists, and scholars committed to wider public consciousness raising regarding the dangers of nuclearisation (i.e. military and and civil programmes) in the subcontinent.
SAAN's e-mailings since 1998 are committed to sharing all possible information about the potentially dangerous consequences and implications of the development - deployment of nuclear weapons and also about the nuclear energy programmes in South Asia. To subscribe send a blank message to saan-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
SAAN set up a website (soon after the nuclear tests conducted by India on May 11, 1998) to bring together information resources for peace and anti-nuclear activists from all over South Asia. At www.s-asians-against-nuke.org SAAN keeps an extensive archive with articles written by scholars like M.V. Ramana, Zia Mian, Achin Vanaik, Praful Bidwai, and many others as well as articles from international media. Reports, statements, petitions, letters, appeals, graphics, cartoons, and links to other organizations complement the archive.
