What is INES?
The International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility (INES) is an independent non-profit-organization concerned about the impact of science and technology on society. INES was founded in 1991 at an international meeting in Berlin, Germany, attended by 1700 people. INES' efforts focus on disarmament and international peace, ethics, justice, and sustainable development. INES is affiliated with the United Nations Department of Public Information as a NGO.
The network maintains a website at www.inesglobal.org and publishes a newsletter. Issue no. 42 was released in September and contains the following articles: Responsible and Active Civil Societies by Maurice Errera; Peaceful America - an interview with Paul Walker by Nicola Hellmich; The Middle Powers Initiative by Douglas Roche; The Middle Power Initiative Progress Report; and Forum for the De struction of Chemical Weapons by Nicola Hellmich.
