Bulletin 19 - MBMD Petition |

Petition for a Missile Freeze
Weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery pose
an intolerable threat to peace and security. An arms race between ballistic missiles, anti-missile systems and space weapons
would move the world closer towards annihilation. The best response to these threats is the establishment of a comprehensive
security framework that prohibits weapons of mass destruction,
missile and anti-missile systems and the weaponization of space.
To reduce the danger, we call for the following immediate steps:
Stop missile and anti-missile testing and deployment.
Initiate negotiations for an international treaty banning
missiles and space weapons.

In February, Moving Beyond Missile Defense joined with an international network of peace groups to initiate and circulate an international petition calling for a
missile freeze and a missile and space
weapons ban to keep missile issues on the
international agenda and publicly visible.
Signatures to the petition will be collected
around the world and submitted to the
United Nations Secretary-General, Secretary General of the Non-Proliferation
Treaty, Heads of governments, Ministers
of Defense and key decision makers and
molders. The petition can be downloaded
to print and circulate at the Moving Beyond Missile Defense website or signed
electronically at
www.PetitionOnline.com/MBMD/petition.html.
